Overview

This course is designed for Field Service Engineers who have to service Alpha Midrange products (typically the Alpha Server line).

The course is geared around the AS800, AS1000(A), AS1200, AS2X00(A) and AS4X00 systems, with emphasis on the AS800, AS1200 and AS4X00.

For each AlphaServer platform a dedicated student guide is provided, containing all relevant information in a practical format. Also floppies containing failsave loader programs, bit-bashers, etc. are provided where applicable.

Pre-requisites

Delegates must attend the Alpha Concepts and Configuration course (S609) or have previous Alpha Desktop experience

Objectives

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to assemble the systems covered, use the console commands, update the firmware, troubleshoot the systems, configure ISA, EISA and PCI options, troubleshoot SCSI configurations, configure and troubleshoot different memory and multiprocessor configurations
