Alpha Systems
Course Title: AlphaServer DS/ES Systems Maintenance
Course Number: 9998
Duration : 5 days
This course consists of X578 & X579
Overview
This course is targeted at the DS & ES AlphaServer Series systems based on the EV6 switched AlphaServer architecture. The course will cover the actual tasks an engineer should be able to perform at the customer site. System Event Analyzer (SEA) will also be covered as an aid to troubleshooting system problems. The course covers the following systems: DS10, DS10L, DS20, DS20e, ES40 and ES45.
Delegates who have successfully completed X578 would be advised to consider X579 as a more appropriate alternative to this course.
Pre-requisities
Delegates should have previously attended the following course: S609 (Alpha Concepts & Configuration), have a minimum of 6 months field experience of Alpha systems and be familiar with basic HP Tru64 Unix and OpenVMS user commands. It would also be an advantage to delegates if they had previously attended W394 Mid-range Alphas or U770 AlphaServer 4100 Maintenance training courses but these are not course prerequisites
Objectives
On successful completion of this course the student will be able to troubleshoot hardware system failures and have an understanding of System Event Analyzer. The installation, use and troubleshooting of System Event Analyzer for HP Tru64 Unix and HP OpenVMS on AlphaServer platforms will also be covered to enable service engineers to isolate failures from system error logs. A number of systems will be available for (dis-) assembly, console and System Event Analyzer exercises.
