Overview
This course is designed for Customer Service Engineers who provide maintenance, installation and operational support for high-end AlphaServer systems.
Pre-requisites
Engineers must have an understanding Alpha concepts (S609), PCI and SCSI concepts, Mid-range AlphaServers (W394) and ideally AlphaServer ES/DS Systems Maintenance (ELMS9998). In addition experience in either Tru64 Unix or OpenVMS system management would be beneficial. Galaxy training is mandatory (X812).

Configure (in theory) the individual components of an AlphaServer GS320 into a whole systemD

Describe the cabling requirements of different AlphaServer GS320 configurations
Describe the power requirements of different Alpha Server GS320 configurations
Identify the different components of an AlphaServer GS320 Quad Building Block (QBB)
Disassembly/re-assembly of system box (interactive video)
Configure the system box
Describe installation of a system box in system cabinet
Install a system box in a system cabinet to include all subsystems

Correctly utilise the console subsystem to verify configuration
Analyse console subsystem information to identify incorrectly configured subsystems

List the supported options on AlphaServer GS320
Perform firmware upgrade
