Overview
This course is designed for IT Professionals wishing to install, set-up, tune and maintain servers and clients Citrix XenApp 5.0. This course is also suitable for delegates running Citrix Presentation Server 4.5.
Pre-requisites
Delegates should have a good understanding of Windows 2003 Server, Active Directory and TCP/IP Networking
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the delegate should be able to:
- Describe the benefits of Terminal Services over basic Windows 2003 clients and the new features included in Windows 2003 server
- State the hardware requirements for Terminal server and Citrix and carry out basic capacity planning
- Install and configure a Windows 2003 Terminal server and customise the terminal server for maximum stability and performance
- Understand and configure terminal services group policy settings
- Lock down a terminal server using group policy loop-back processing
- Install a Microsoft licensing server and understand user and device licensing issues
- Describe the features and benefits of Citrix XenApp and the enhancements that are new in this version
- Describe, plan and install a Citrix License Server
- Describe, plan and install a Citrix Server Farm
- Install and customise the I.C.A. thin client software
- Create and deploy customised I.C.A client packages
- Install application programs on the server using best practices
- Install applications into an application isolation environment and publish applications and desktops to users and groups
- Configure virtual IP addresses and virtual loop-back addresses for applications
- Create and configure streaming profiles and publish streamed applications to clients
- Add new Citrix Metaframe farm administrators
- Manage Citrix serverrs and set-up load balancing and load throttling
- Add and administer Citrix policies
- Set-up and monitor Client and Server printing using native and universal print drivers
- Set-up and use applications via the Web Interface and customise the web interface
- Monitor and tune the Terminal Server's for maximum performance and set-up server health monitoring
